The Great Wall of China

It is the longest wall in the world and the most enchanting and famous attraction of China. Built and rebuilt between the 5th century and 16th century for security purpose, it is one of the finest man-made wonders of the world. Located in north China, the wall is 21,196.18 km long. The wall in Beijing area is more easily accessible and circles around the mountain peaks.


It is the biggest city of China located on its central coast. It is a global financial hub. It is famous for its lovely attractions like Bund - a popular waterfront promenade lined with colonial buildings. It is a city with perfect blend of modern and traditional cultures. From skyscrapers to ancient buildings, ponds, traditional pavilions, you will find a lot of attractions here.

Potala Palace

Potala Palace has served as the winter palace of the Dalai Lama from the 7th century till 14th century when the 14th Dalai Lama fled to India after China’s invasion in 1959. Located in Lhasa, it symbolises Tibetan Buddhism. It has 14 stories encompassing around 1,000 rooms. It boasts of rare cultural artefacts such as gold hand-written Buddhist scriptures and gifts from Chinese emperors.

Forbidden City

In the past, the Forbidden City has served as the abode of the emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties. It IS located in Beijing. Surrounded by a moat, the city is the world’s largest impressive complex. It encompasses 980 buildings containing around 9,999 rooms.

Victor Harbour

It is a fascinating landform harbour sandwiched between Hong Kong Island and Kowloon in Hong Kong. It is an important trading centre of China. The bay offers arresting views of the towering buildings of Hong Kong Island and the Tsim Sha Tsui shoreline. As day draws to a close several skyscrapers on both sides of the harbour lit up brightly and it looks as if a light festival is going on. You can enjoy the harbour on a ferry.

Terracotta Army

It is one of the most arresting archaeological structures in the world. This majestic army consists of terracotta warriors and horses. It is located in Xi’an and is a must-visit tourist attraction of China. It consists of around 8,000 lifelike terracotta warriors and 130 chariots. No two warriors have same faces which itself shows how much hard work and creativity has gone into its construction.

Li River Cruise

This wonderful cruise takes you from Guilin to Yangshuo in north eastern Guangxi Province. Away from the concrete city, the river offers beautiful scenery and peaceful ambiance. Magnificent views of the mountains from the river add all the more beauty to it. You will also find traditional fishing boats at the river.

Mount Huang

Also known as the Yellow Mountain, Mount Huang is a majestic mountain range in eastern China. The mountains are surrounded by breathtaking natural beauty. Its major highlights are sunsets, views of clouds and strange shaped granite peaks.

Leshan Gian Buddha

Located in Sichuan province in China, Leshan Gian Buddha is a stone sculpture carved out of a cliff in the 8th century. It faces Mt. Emei with Minjiang, Dadu and Qingyi rivers flowing below his feet. It has been recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Hani Rice Terraces

They are located on the southern slopes of Ailao Mountain in Yuanyang. They have been cultivated by the Hani people for the last 1,000 years. They look beautiful.

Lip smacking cuisine of China

China majorly has eight cuisines namely Anhui, Cantonese, Fujian, Hunan, Jiangsu, Shandong, Sichuan, and Zhejiang. The staple food includes rice, vegetables and noodles. Dumplings made up of minced meat and chopped vegetables wrapped in a thin piece of dough skin are one of the most famous dishes of China. Sweet and sour pork, Gong Bao chicken, Ma Po Tofu, Chowmein, Wontons, Peking roasted duck etc are the other popular dishes of China.

How to get around in China

China has good means of transport. The public transport consists of buses and trains. Taxis are easily available. You can even choose to ride a bicycle as this is one of the most common vehicles here.
